For Immediate Release: Donald Baker Becomes Senior Counsel at Baker & Miller

Our co-founder, Don Baker, has become Senior Counsel for the firm on January 1, 2020. He will continue his active practice, focusing on advising clients on important antitrust issues, representing foreign governments in US litigation and appeals involving international law and sovereign immunity issues, and periodically offering expert testimony on antitrust law and enforcement before state courts and elsewhere. “I really enjoy doing challenging legal work,” said Mr. Baker, “and I am excited to maintain my practice by focusing on specialized cases and issues.”

Since 2006, Don Baker has been regularly re-nominated by the U.S. antitrust agencies to serve as a Non-Government Adviser to the International Competition Network, where he has been particularly active in the Working Group on single-firm behavior. He recently made an ICN presentation on monopoly problems with two-sided platforms. He is also the expert witness on the antitrust enforcement process in a still-pending Delaware Chancery contract dispute between two major health insurers whose proposed merger had been enjoined by the Department of Justice in 2017. The Surface Transportation Board has also just re-nominated Don to serve on its Panel of Arbitrators for 2020.

Managing partner Todd Miller said, “We are delighted that Don has decided to continue practicing law by focusing his practice on these areas that are most rewarding to him and his clients. In this role, he will continue to be an important resource for all of us given Don’s lengthy and distinguished career as a preeminent antitrust lawyer and scholar.”

Baker & Miller, which was founded by Don Baker and Todd Miller in 1995, has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top antitrust litigation law firm. It has also been recognized as a Tier 1 law firm in Washington, D.C. in the area of antitrust law. From our offices in Washington and San Francisco, our lawyers are actively engaged in representing major clients in antitrust investigations and cases. We have also been regularly representing foreign governments and other foreign parties before the US Supreme Court and the lower federal courts.
